I led a team working with Amazon Game Studios on their fantasy MMO in 2022-3, creating new systems with the goal of bringing players with common goals together, and upgrading the game’s UI to an improved post-launch style. Some of the systems that have been made public are shown below.

Starting with a new activity type, we created a new access route that would be adaptable for current and future modes, showing off their highlights, requirements, and rewards.

We worked heavily with both our internal and the client’s UXR teams, forming the basis for the larger Activity Finder feature we’d develop next.


ACTIVITY FINDER

This was by far the biggest feature of our time with AGS - a one-stop system for all players to access instanced content more easily. The Activity Finder was also a test case for many of the UI improvements planned for the game, and we worked closely with AGS’ design team and our own motion designers to polish these new screens.

Again we iterated heavily with the help of user testing, to design a robust area that accounts for both the wide variety of players and their differing goals, and futureproofs it for years of incoming updates.
